After Georges Rouault
September 21, 2010
The oil painting that launched our art collection was given to us by a gallery owner in Franklin, Tennessee. She had been representing my work, and she knew I loved this piece. The painting was done by a Tennessee artist, Bunn Gray, but it reminded me of something the French modernist Georges Rouault would have done. Later, I discovered it was almost a copy of a Rouault painting. Bunn Gray passed away while the painting was in the gallery, and Heather, the gallery owner, purchased this painting from Mr. Gray’s family to give as a gift to me. Thanks, Heather!
